MOSE, the system that should save Venice from extreme high tide, was tested on the 3rd of October and walking around you couldn’t avoid catching passersby chatting about this: many locals are extremely reluctant towards the system due to its very own corruption scandal, the delays, and extreme costs, but yesterday the whole city seemed in disbelief: it worked, Venice stayed dry.
The following day, the tide was lower, so San Marco Square got back to a leisurely touristic version of acqua alta, with bare foot families and foto ricordo.
